We’re seeking a detail-oriented and sensory-driven Flavor Compounder to join our dynamic flavor development team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced lab environment, has a passion for taste and aroma, and enjoys translating formulas into flavorful experiences. You’ll be responsible for accurately compounding flavor formulas, maintaining lab standards, and supporting innovation across food, beverage, and fragrance applications.
Job Title: R&D Flavor Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Compound flavor formulas using precise measurements of raw materials, following standardized procedures and safety protocols
  • Order and maintain inventory of flavor ingredients, retain samples, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and documentation
  • Support flavor development by preparing samples for internal evaluations, customer presentations, and stability testing
  • Collaborate with flavorists and R&D teams to refine formulations and troubleshoot inconsistencies
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment such as balances, mixers, and encapsulation tools as well as maintain cleanliness in the lab
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, FDA, GFSI)
  • Document batch records and update formulation databases with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Assist on tasks related to QA/QC, retain management, and updating databases
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Some college or associate degree in chemistry, food science, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • 1–3 years of experience in a flavor lab, food manufacturing, or related technical role
  • Strong understanding of weights, measurements, and lab safety procedures
  • Sensory acuity and interest in flavor profiles, aroma chemistry, and ingredient interactions
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and maintain high accuracy under time constraints
  • Familiarity with flavor raw materials (natural, artificial, extracts, essential oils) is a plus
  • Comfortable working with allergens and strong-smelling ingredients
  • May need to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
