  1. Position: Entry/Mid - Level Environmental Scientist / Industrial Hygienist
  2. Duties: As listed below.
  3. Wage: Starting at $24.00/hour + Bonuses and Raises, negotiable with experience
  4. Employment Status: Full-time/Part-time
  5. Vacation – All federal holidays paid (for full-time employment) and Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of employment
  6. Medical – Full coverage for employee, plan to be determined by company
  7. Dental – Full coverage for employee, plan to be determined by company
  8. Mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use at current federal rates (currently $0.65/mile)
  9. Phone Reimbursement:
    a. Company will reimburse employee $50/month for business use of personal phone
    b. If not available, company will provide company issued phone
  10. Job Requirements:
    a. Must have a valid Hawaii state drivers license
    b. Must posses a working and dependable vehicle capable of transportation to Hawaii island project sites
    c. Must posses full coverage vehicle insurance for personal vehicle used during business hours
    d. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
    e. Must be able to climb ladders as needed
    f. B.S. degree a plus

Responsibilities

The environmental scientist/industrial hygienist should be proficient in technical report writing and will conduct various field activities to include asbestos and lead paint assessments, soil sampling and environmental assessments. Professional development is rapid and more complex projects will be assigned as skills are developed via an in-house training program and outsourced training to comply with State of Hawaii Department of Health certification requirements. The environmental scientist/industrial hygienist will also be responsible for coordination with analytical laboratories, subcontractor oversight, and health and safety air monitoring. Report writing and small project management responsibilities will follow after gaining successful experience.
You will work both independently and collaboratively with a senior scientist or project manager. The candidate will be expected to follow company safety standards, participate in safety training, and implement site-specific health and safety plans. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, and implementing site-specific work plans and scopes of work.
The selected candidate’s responsibilities will help support environmental field projects on the Big Island of Hawaii, as well as throughout the State of Hawaii (Oahu county, Maui county and Kauai county). Responsibilities may include procuring equipment, sample media, and field supplies and assistance with other project coordination activities. Routine interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected.
This position will require a mixture of indoor and outdoor work.
