Description POSITION OVERVIEW As an Entry Writer, you will play a critical role in facilitating the import entry process for our clients. You will be responsible for creating, inputting and preparing customs entries to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations for customs and other related government agencies. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the customs brokerage industry while working alongside seasoned professionals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Customs Entry Preparation: Prepare and review customs entries for accuracy, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and compliant with customs and other government agency regulations. 2. Documentation Handling: Manage and organize import documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin and other multiple required documents for CBP and other participating government agencies. 3. Tariff Classification: Assist team leader and importer in determining correct tariff classifications for goods being imported applying knowledge of the Harmonized System (HS) codes. 4. Customs Compliance: Ensure customs entries adhere to all applicable customs laws, regulations, and procedures, including duty calculation and valuation. 5. Client Communication: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather necessary information and address any customs-related inquiries or issues. 6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all customs entries and related documentation for auditing and reporting purposes. 7. Software Utilization: Utilize customs brokerage software and databases to facilitate entry filing. 8. Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve customs-related issues or compliance discrepancies. 9. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, trade agreements, and industry trends to ensure compliance. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Previous 1-3 years of experience in customs brokerage or a related industry. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using customs brokerage software (CargoWise) and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with customs regulations and procedures. Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Critical to be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Customs Broker License: While not always required, a customs broker license can be a significant advantage. Relevant Certifications (Optional): Possession of relevant certifications, such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or other advanced certifications in international trade and customs brokerage.
