Core values at EJ include safety and security, honesty and integrity, environmental responsibility, respect for others, quality and excellence, and social responsibility.   Location: Franklin, Kentucky   SUMMARY The Environmental & Safety Manager provides strategic leadership and hands‑on oversight for all environmental and occupational health and safety programs at the facility. This role ensures compliance with applicable environmental regulations, maintains required permits, reduces workplace risk, and drives a proactive safety culture aligned with EJ’s mission, vision, and core values. The manager partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and Corporate EHS to promote continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practices.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   Leadership & Culture  * Champion a strong safety culture and ensure employees understand expectations for safe work practices. * Promote EJ’s mission, vision, core values, and continuous improvement mindset. * Lead and develop Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team members. Environmental Compliance & Stewardship * Maintain and manage all site environmental permits and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., Title V, NPDES, Stormwater). * Oversee environmental reporting and recordkeeping (e.g., SARA Tier II, Form R). * Coordinate sampling, stack testing, industrial hygiene monitoring, and other environmental assessments. * Partner with regulatory agencies during inspections and ensure timely corrective actions. * Oversee waste management, including proper handling, storage, disposal, and recycling of materials such as waste oil, coolants, and solid waste. * Support execution of the Corporate Environmental Policy and drive environmental stewardship initiatives. Safety Management & Risk Reduction * Plan, develop, and implement safety policies, procedures, and training in accordance with OSHA and corporate requirements. * Conduct and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. * Maintain internal and external incident reporting requirements. * Assist with workers’ compensation activities, including light‑duty coordination and claim resolution. * Facilitate safety training, employee engagement, and continuous improvement in safe work behaviors.  Collaboration & Operational Support * Partner with all facility departments to maintain compliance and identify opportunities to reduce environmental and safety risks. * Manage contractors and consultants supporting EHS projects. * Coordinate environmental and safety considerations within engineering and maintenance activities. * Communicate effectively across departments to ensure alignment and prevent operational conflicts. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   Education & Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field. * 8–10 years of relevant environmental, health, and safety experience; foundry or heavy manufacturing experience preferred. * Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered. Skills & Competencies  * Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulations. * Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. * Ability to interpret technical documents, regulations, and data. * Proven ability to develop and maintain EHS programs and training. * Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence across departments.  Certifications (Preferred) * Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM).  PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
