Description
This position is accountable for driving a comprehensive EHS program for EAS, ensuring full compliance with local regulations, corporate requirements as well as customer and authority requirements. The role involves mentoring individuals and teams on both practical and theoretical aspects of EHS, supporting the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the EAS EHS program. Key responsibilities include establishment of EHS processes, leading risk reduction and incident prevention initiatives, fostering a strong safety culture aligned with our company EHS policy and MESH framework, and providing structured support for audit readiness, documentation control and nonconformance management. A. Program ownership: Implement and sustain EHS programs aligned to company policy and MESH global minimum standards (procedures, training, operational controls, emergency preparedness). B. Compliance & permits: Ensure adherence to Malaysian EHS laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA 1994, Environmental Quality Act 1974, local authorities' requirements), hazardous waste/chemical management, and contractor safety controls. C. Risk management: Lead HIRARC/JSA, confined space & hot work permits, ergonomics assessments, and machine guarding reviews; maintain risk registers with measurable action plans. D. Emergency readiness: Maintain site emergency response plans; conduct drills, first aid/fire safety programs, and ensure readiness of equipment. (Aligned with EHS policy emergency planning.) E. Training & competency: Build EHS training matrices, deliver inductions/toolbox talks, and track completion. F. Incident management: Lead incident/near miss investigations (RCA/5 Why/Fishbone), determine corrective & preventive actions, and verify effectiveness. G. Audits & inspections: Plan/execute EHS inspections and internal audits; coordinate closure of findings on time and support external audits. H. Data & reporting: Own EHS KPIs (TRIR, LTIR, near miss rate, audit closures, training completion), monthly dashboards, and management reviews. Manage data collection as required by corporate requirements (MESH). I. Culture & engagement: Champion behavior based safety (BBS), FOD awareness in shop areas, and continuous improvement. J. Interface management: Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, Quality, and Supply Chain on EHS risk and controls for new processes/equipment/ chemicals. K. Nonconformance & CAPA: Help track EHS nonconformances, perform basic investigations, and execute CAPA tasks with timely evidence. L. Documentation & records: Maintain controlled records (procedures, checklists, logs) and manage EHS document revision/issuance. M. Quality Management System support: Assist in maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS) documentation; N. QMS Audit participation: Support internal quality audits, line walks, calibration/housekeeping checks, and closure of findings; contribute to continuous improvement actions. Diploma/Degree in EHS/Environmental Engineering/Mechanical/Industrial or related field Minimum of five (5) years EHS experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or MRO (shop floor exposure required). Working knowledge of Malaysian EHS regulations (DOSH/DOE), HIRARC/JSA, emergency response, contractor control, and chemical/waste management. Familiarity with aerospace Part 145 environments. Certifications/skills preferred: ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 implementation, BBS, incident investigation (RCA), internal auditing; DOSH SHO/NIOSH certifications are a plus. Strong communication, stakeholder influence, and data/metrics discipline; ability to coach shop personnel and lead cross functional actions Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations is an added advantage.
