YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree level qualification in a similar industry
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification.
  • ISEP or equivalent Level 3 environmental qualification.
  • Ability to hold an airside pass
  • Demonstrable structured leadership training is desirable
  • Ideally hold or working towards Chartered membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH, ISEP)

THE ROLE:

Environment, Health and Safety Manager - 12 months fixed term contract
Are you ready for a challenge? This exciting role within the British Airways’ Engineering Safety and Compliance team is for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professional with a proven track record of developing, delivering and improving safety strategy. As HSE Manager, you will lead a team of HSE professionals and be the voice of Engineering Safety, regularly engaging with internal and external stakeholders to promote a safe and secure culture across the organisation. You will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, overseeing group activity which ranges from incident investigations, audits and reporting through to influencing at external regulator level and implementing cross-functional solutions. This senior role requires NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification, and an ISEP or equivalent Level 3 Environment is preferred.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Acts as the leader for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) matters across Engineering engaging with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulators (e.g. CAA, HSE, EA).
  • Develops, influences, and implements the Engineering HSE strategy and Management System.
  • Aligns decisions with directorate-level objectives to deliver positive outcomes across the business.
  • Leads and manages HSE professionals, influencing the Engineering Leadership Team to achieve strategic goals.
  • Oversees group activities including:
  • Leading complex investigations into serious incidents, driving preventative actions and innovative solutions.
  • Interpreting technical, regulatory, manufacturer (OEM), and industry guidance through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and improving safety, risk, and quality performance through audits, reporting, and improvement planning.
  • Communicating safety performance to senior stakeholders, recommending actions and influencing cross-functional solutions in complex areas.
