We are seeking a highly capable Environment Manager to provide strategic leadership and technical authority across our UK operations. This is a senior, high‑impact role at the heart of our environmental governance structure. You will shape long‑term environmental strategy, ensure robust regulatory compliance, and drive consistent environmental performance across all TSUK sites. The role is ideally suited to an experienced environmental professional with strong technical depth, sound judgement, and the credibility to influence at all levels. The Role As Environment Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of TSUK’s environmental policy, strategy, and management systems. You will provide expert advice on environmental permitting and legislation, including the management of permit variations, support major projects through permitting strategy and compliance guidance, and represent the business externally with regulators and industry bodies. You will act as a central authority for environmental governance, ensuring alignment, assurance, and continuous improvement across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Strategy, Governance & Continuous Improvement * Define and drive TSUK’s environmental policy, long‑term strategy, and annual HSE planning cycle. * Lead the implementation of a harmonised Environmental Management System aligned with ISO 14001. * Ensure consistent environmental planning, performance monitoring, and reporting across all sites. * Maintain expert, up‑to‑date knowledge of all environmental permitting requirements, including site‑specific permit conditions, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practice.  * Lead the management of environmental permits across TSUK, including new permit applications, variations, consolidations, transfers, and routine regulatory submissions.  * Develop and oversee permit variation strategies, ensuring high‑quality technical justifications, robust supporting assessments, and effective engagement with regulators to secure approvals.  * Monitor new and emerging legislation, regulatory guidance, and best practice standards, providing clear, pragmatic, and timely advice to operational teams and senior leaders on implications and required actions.  * Ensure operations maintain ongoing permit compliance, proactively identifying gaps, advising on operational controls, and supporting the implementation of corrective and preventative measures. Regulation, Permitting & Compliance * Maintain broad knowledge of environmental permitting and all TSUK site permit requirements. * Monitor new and emerging legislation and provide clear guidance to sites. * Support ISO 14001 accreditation and ensure ongoing compliance with permit conditions. Technical & Operational Leadership * Provide expertise across air emissions, land, waste, water, biodiversity, radiological protection, legionella, and environmental management systems. * Lead emissions quantification, monitoring strategies, pollutant behaviour assessment, and abatement solutions. * Deliver Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), including baseline studies and dispersion modelling. * Support major capital projects through environmental risk assessments, design reviews, and Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs). Risk, Performance & Incident Management * Identify and manage environmental risks across TSUK operations. * Maintain and govern the environmental risk register with effective mitigation strategies. * Review environmental incidents, analyse trends, and drive preventative actions. * Lead cross‑site performance reviews, learning forums, and strategic deployment sessions. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation * Build strong, professional relationships with regulators, accredited bodies, local authorities, contractors, communities, and industry groups. * Represent TSUK in regulatory consultations and technical working groups, influencing policy and legislative development. What You Will Need * Demonstrable experience managing environmental regulation permit, including preparing variation applications, leading technical justification, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring successful approval from regulators. * Proven experience leading Environmental Management Systems and delivering ISO 14001 compliance. * Strong working knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks. * Excellent analytical capability, with the ability to apply technical knowledge to complex operational systems. * Experience working in or alongside manufacturing environments (steelmaking experience highly advantageous). * Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or technical discipline is preferred. * ISEP Certificate in Environmental Management is preferred.
