QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • 2+ years environmental experience in heavy industry such as chemical/petrochemical, mining, minerals processing, shipping, transport or similar
  • Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or related engineering, geology or industrial health/hygiene
  • Qualifications and/or on-the-job experience in air quality is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of ISO4001 and regulatory requirements relating to environment
  • Competency in systems/database computer literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data and provide reports
  • Ability to build relationships and identify initiatives for projects
Responsibilities

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Applications are now open for an Environmental Advisor to join the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality team.
As a generalist role, this is an excellent opportunity to be a part of improving environmental performance by providing scientific advice to all Port Pirie operational areas on matters such as air and water quality, land management and waste. You will also be involved in general environmental management and project initiatives.
Reporting to the Principal Environmental Advisor, this is a residential role, based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Provide generalist environmental advice to operational areas
  • Collate environmental/scientific data and report accordingly
  • Identify initiatives and projects to drive environmental improvement and performance
  • Contribute to the development of environmental management and improvement systems and practices
  • Support the development and implementation of effective monitoring tools and techniques
  • Carryout inspections, conduct investigation and take appropriate action
