Description:

THE PROJECT

UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:

  • 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
  • 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
  • 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa, up to six new substation sites.

This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for a Environmental Advisor to join the team based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities:

The Environmental Advisor is responsible for providing guidance and expertise on environmental regulations and sustainability practices for projects and engineering-related companies. They assess potential environmental impacts, develop strategies for compliance, and offer recommendations to minimise environmental harm on projects.

  • Conduct environmental impact assessments, reviews, field inspections and site assessments.
  • Monitor, manage operational activities, and be responsible for the daily delivery of the project’s environmental functions.
  • Ensure that different stages of the project and operations comply with environmental laws, regulations, and permits.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, landowners, stakeholders, traditional owners, and the community to address environmental concerns and develop sustainable practices.
  • Conduct environmental audits to identify areas of improvement and assess compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to environmental assessments, compliance, and initiatives.
  • Manage high-level issues and give guidance to operational management on environmental issues.
