JOB DUTIES:    A. Provides Safe Clean Environment – The Aide I: -utilizes equipment, supplies and warning signs to ensure clean, safe     environment -responds appropriately in emergency codes and situations -responds appropriately to hazardous material spills -operates laundry equipment following set guidelines to ensure clean safe     environment   B. Routine Procedures – The Aide I: -completes routine cleaning assignments thoroughly and within deadlines -completes discharges using time management skills -maintains infection control and safe work habits. -performs wet/dry mop procedures correctly -cleans patient rooms, toilets, ancillary areas, support areas, offices, windows,   doors, blinds, and maintains the laundry cleanliness as scheduled. -performs terminal cleaning as assigned -Washes linen, maintains wash room areas, provides a clean and productive flow    of linen to finishing departments. -Weighs and sorts soiled linen for proper wash load. -Properly maintain chemicals supply to washers and reports problems as they   Occur   C. Accountability – The Aide I: -works independently, with evidence of time management -keeps supervisor informed -remains accessible at all times and notifies supervisor when leaving assigned   area -reads memorandums and initials as posted on departmental bulletin boards -utilizes cost containment practices -performs other duties as assigned.     D. Policy and Procedure – The Aide I -follows hospital and department policy -meets WRMC’s attendance expectations as defined in the Human Resources  Policy/Procedure Manual -adheres to WRMC’s Dress Code Policy   E. Interpersonal Relations – The Aide I: -communicates effectively at all levels -use AIDET in approaching all customers -maintains positive public image -maintains patient confidentiality at all times   F. General Education – The Aide I: -attends all required education -attends 75% of departmental meetings    EDUCATION:   Must be able to read, write, and perform simple math.  High School diploma or GED preferred.   EXPERIENCE:   * Previous related experience is desirable * Concern for detail cleaning and attention is required * Good vision is required   ACCESS AUTHORIZATION   White River Health System will maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information systems containing electronic patient health information.  In keeping with this policy all positions requiring access to Electronic Patient Health Information hall be identified.     LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:    * None require   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:   * Performs routine repetitive tasks on a continuous basis * Involves some duties outside building e.g. windows, entrances * Involves prolonged walking, standing, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders * Able to push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds and operate all equipment * Involves strenuous activity throughout shift; light duty performance is not available * Able to withstand prolonged contact with water and cleaning agents * Able to work flexible hours and weekends as needed * Possible exposure to biological, chemical, and infectious hazardous materials   Essentials: 1. Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.   2. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.     
Responsibilities
The Environmental Aide is responsible for providing a safe and clean environment by performing routine and terminal cleaning assignments, operating laundry equipment, and responding appropriately to emergencies and hazardous material spills. Duties also include maintaining infection control, managing linen flow, and adhering to all hospital and departmental policies.
