This role is ideal for a legally qualified professional who is passionate about environmental and mining law, enjoys working on multidisciplinary projects, and wants to provide strategic advice that has real-world impact. The Difference You Will Make In this role, you will provide environmental and mining legal advice to clients and contribute to large integrated projects across the resources sector. You will work closely with technical specialists, project teams, and clients to identify legal risks, support compliance, and develop practical solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Providing strategic environmental and mining legal advice to clients. Managing and contributing to legal workstreams on large multidisciplinary projects. Preparing proposals and delivering project tasks or components. Conducting environmental legal compliance assessments, audits, and risk assessments. Compiling legal compliance registers, audit findings, and practical recommendations. Advising clients on environmental and mining permits, authorisations, licences, and related regulatory processes. Supporting administrative representations, appeals, and environmental or mining litigation matters. Conducting legal due diligence investigations for commercial transactions. Drafting and advising on contaminated land sale, remediation, and liability transfer agreements. Developing risk and liability management strategies with clients. Providing legal advice on environmental, mining, and related legislation. Delivering client training on current and emerging developments in environmental and mining law. Building strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders in the market. Why Join Digby Wells? Requirements The Difference We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware, and able to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues. You will bring: Strong knowledge of environmental and mining legislation. The ability to establish credibility and engage confidently with clients, including senior leadership. A self-motivated, proactive, and solutions-focused approach. Strong project management and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to translate complex legal and technical information into clear, practical advice. A flexible, pragmatic, and innovative approach to project delivery. An interest in the resources sector. Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required. Fluency in English. Working knowledge of another language, particularly French or Spanish, would be advantageous. Qualifications LLB or equivalent legal degree. A qualification in Environmental Management would be advantageous. A Project Management Certificate would be beneficial. Experience One to Three years’ relevant experience in environmental and mining law. Consulting experience is required. Experience advising clients on health and safety legislation would be advantageous.
