Description
Overview Element has an opportunity for an Associate Environmental Test Engineer to support testing programs for components and systems developed for key account projects in our Burton, MI laboratory. In this role, you will assist in the development and execution of test plans to evaluate product performance, durability, and reliability under a range of thermal, vibration, humidity, and environmental conditions, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards. You will also collect and analyze test data, assist with preparing technical reports, and work closely with clients and internal teams to support the delivery of high-quality results. This entry-level position is ideal for a hands-on engineer interested in gaining practical experience in environmental testing and automation. You will have the opportunity to learn test stand automation, develop basic electrical circuits, and work with Python or equivalent software, while contributing to projects that advance Element’s environmental testing capabilities. Responsibilities Assist in executing environmental test plans to assess product performance and durability under thermal, vibration, humidity, and other environmental conditions Support the development and integration of basic electrical circuits and instrumentation for testing Help automate test stands and support data acquisition using Python or equivalent software (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB) Collect, organize, and analyze test data, and help prepare clear technical reports Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot tests and maintain test equipment Support project execution, including scheduling, documentation, and communication with team members Skills / Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (recent graduates encouraged to apply) Some experience or coursework in testing, instrumentation, or laboratory work is preferred Familiarity with basic test equipment and data analysis tools; exposure to test automation a plus Knowledge of automotive or environmental testing standards such as FCA CS.00056, Ford CEPT;00:00-E-412, GMW 3172, ISO 16750, IEC 60068-2-38, USCAR-2, IEC 60529, SAE J1455, or similar is desirable Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on engineering role Basic programming skills in Python or equivalent software preferred, with an interest in developing automation capabilities Physical Demands: Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
