Job Description
The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.
Project scope includes:
- Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
- Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
- Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway
In line with the above, Acciona is in search of a dedicated Environmental Coordinator to ensure that we achieve our Environmental goals through innovative approaches. You will engage with stakeholders to create an impact throughout the project and to sway decisions.
Specific Tasks Include
- Developing and implementing environmental management plans that comply with regulations and ACCIONA’s sustainability commitments.
- Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, ensuring adherence to permits and approvals.
- Identifying and mitigating potential environmental risks associated with construction activities.
- Liaising with stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and contractors, on environmental matters.
- Conducting environmental site inspections and audits.
- Raising awareness and promoting environmental best practices within the project team.
Required Skills and Competencies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Experience in investigating and reporting safety incidents.
- Working knowledge of audit procedures.
