JOB SUMMARY:

As an Environmental Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing environmental aspects of the delivery of the greenfield airport project. The Environmental Coordinator is a key individual in performing Bechtel Delivery Partner’s (DP) role of contract administration. To be successful in this role, you will be fully familiar with the contract terms, scope, and requirements and will work as part of the larger DP package management team to fulfil the DP obligations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Formal qualifications in environmental science or other related discipline with a minimum of 9+ years of construction experience (experience on major infrastructure or aviation projects is an advantage).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Working and applied knowledge of environmental systems, principles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of and experience working within an Australian legislation context (e.g., interpreting and providing advice based on relevant environmental acts & regulations).
  • Knowledge of permitting processes and responsibilities, industry standards for environmental compliance e.g., ISO 14001, and best management practices for minimising environmental impacts during project execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with external stakeholders, develop productive relationships, and influence.
  • Sound working knowledge of Contract Management.

Responsibilities
  • Working as a Representative of Bechtel as WSA’s Delivery Partner you will report on environmental aspects of the assigned package, maintain regular customer contact for work progress and exchange of information and advice.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental approvals for the project.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Commonwealth legislation and customer environmental objectives.
  • Assist with the management and monitoring of environment controls such as erosion and sediment controls within the site.
  • Technical reviews to ensure that the Environment Management Plans and other environmental management documents or reports are reviewed, implemented and maintained in compliance with the requirements; including any supplementary plans and upgrades to these documents (as needed) to remain current.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, monitoring and audits to assess and ensure environmental performance and opportunities for improvement and provide a report out to the package team and Environmental Manager.
