As an Environmental Coordinator – Environmental Management System within the Environment and Sustainable Development team at Pomerleau Construction, you will be responsible for coordinating the implementation, maintenance, improvement, and performance of Pomerleau’s ISO 14001:2015 certified EMS. You will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the integration of best environmental practices in large-scale building and infrastructure construction projects – ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion.
What you will do :
- Maintain ISO 14001:2015 certification within the company and in Pomerleau’s construction projects.
- Implement the means and tools to monitor the environmental performance of projects and report to management (dashboards): promote the use of digital and technological tools
- Consult and collaborate with environmental managers and propose guidelines to the management committee for setting environmental objectives and identifying key opportunities for improvement
- Develop, maintain, and control EMS documentation and tools
- Ensure the proper implementation and maintenance of key EMS planning processes: issues, risks, opportunities, environmental aspects, stakeholders, environmental objectives
- Coordinate and communicate periodic regulatory monitoring to teams
- Maintain and monitor the employee training plan on the EMS and environmental issues and develop and/or coordinate the development of related training
- Train, coach, and support the environmental team on the EMS and in relation to their responsibilities and tasks arising from the EMS
- Coordinate the performance of internal and external audits
- Coordinate the corrective action process in relation to the EMS and develop corrective and preventive action plans
- Ensure overall monitoring of EMS compliance
- Ensure the continuous improvement of the EMS and its suitability for project needs
- Support major projects in the development of deliverables on EMS requirements and in the implementation and maintenance of their systems.
- Collaborate with the Quality and Health and Safety teams to promote the integration of certain common management system processes
This role could be for you if you have :
- Hold a university degree in the field of environment, sustainable development, environmental engineering, or a similar field
- Three or more years of experience in developing, implementing, and/or maintaining an ISO 14001-certified EMS
- Knowledge of the construction industry (an asset)
- Knowledge of the environmental regulatory framework
