Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will support and monitor the implementation of project environment programs to ensure adherence with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, contractual obligations and John Holland Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE

  • Provide environmental guidance, diligence and consistency to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and input into the identification and effective management of environmental risks.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing management of project environmental management systems.
  • Support the communication of environment matters to management and project staff.
  • Support the maintenance of comprehensive environmental records.
  • Identify and initiate localised environment improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters as required.
  • Support project induction and environmental management systems/tools training.
  • Complete routine environmental monitoring and record and decipher results
  • Implement the Monitoring and Review Procedure by competing routine inspections and associated reports.
  • Support the communication of environmental roles and responsibilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company environmental requirements.
  • Support the communication process to keep management informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and project environmental requirements.
  • Influence a positive Environmental culture across the project and John Holland.
  • Identify and communicate improvements to corporate and project environmental management processes
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated disciplines
  • Construction environment management experience (2+ years)
  • Knowledge of compliance and reporting procedures and processes
  • Knowledge of environmental management techniques and tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of low-level incident investigations
  • Reporting, auditing and risk management procedures and processes
  • Reporting environmental performance, compliance, defects and non-compliance
  • Generalist environment management experience (2+ years)
