POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Coordinator to support our health, safety, sustainability, and environmental (HSSE) initiatives across a variety of construction and development projects. This junior-level role is based in our Thorold office and involves travel to project sites as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring, sampling, and data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Safety legislation, with an understanding of multi-provincial regulations, is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Adaptable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to project locations across Canada and the U.S. Valid passport required.
  • Valid G license and access to a vehicle for travel is required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some travel may be required to attend off-site meetings, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
  • The ability to travel throughout Canada & U.S. is required, as occasional cross-border responsibilities may arise.

Responsibilities

The Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Coordinating and/or executing daily, weekly, monthly, annual sampling in accordance with the applicable permits.
  • Coordinating and/or completing all reporting associated with the sampling requirements.
  • Submitting all required reporting to the appropriate agencies.
  • Maintaining a schedule of all sampling, monitoring, etc., per site – to be reviewed by the Manager, Environmental, and others, as required.
  • Adhering to company safety and environmental policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Retaining consultants and coordinating the on-site work required.
  • Purchase Order requests, tracking, and invoice validation.
  • Executing and maintaining the spill response plan and emergency response plan as required.
  • Regular maintenance and input of information into the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Maintaining accurate records of environmental activities and monitoring data.
  • Preparing monitoring and progress reports for review by management.
  • Assisting with the compilation of information to be included in the annual Sustainability Report.
  • Collaborating with various departments to achieve environmental goals, as required.
