JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental Specialist supports the implementation of environmental components within the ESH Program, ensuring compliance with regulations, project standards, and sustainability goals. Key responsibilities include developing Environmental Management Plans, conducting inspections, guiding contractors on environmental compliance, and collaborating with stakeholders. #LI-AR2

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Environmental inspection and auditing
  • Environmental protection in construction
  • Knowledge in local environmental regulations
  • Understanding environmental aspects in major construction projects
  • Knowledge in ISO 14001:2015 Standard and environmental protection in Construction
  • Understanding environmental conditions, constraints, permitting process and assessment
Responsibilities
  • Assists execution of the environmental component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
  • Assists development and implementation of Environmental Management Plans, associated environmental plans and procedures, and training program.
  • Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Contracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that environmental requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
  • Interprets environmental requirements and provides guidance on risk assessment and program execution.
  • Researches issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
  • Supports environmental permitting, studies, risk assessments, and reviews involving site conditions, natural resources, cultural resources, and communities.
  • Participates in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
  • Participates in meetings with team members and contractors, permitting agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Conducts inspections and environmental monitoring and sampling to help identify risks, confirm the effectiveness of mitigation measures, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory and project requirements.
  • Review contractor deliverables and require compliance with project environmental standards.
  • Provide assurance to the contractors to measure their compliance with project environmental standards.
  • Provides guidance regarding environmental mitigation, permit conditions, sustainability concepts, and protection of environmentally sensitive areas, species, and communities.
