Job Description
To continue its mission to be an industry leader in earth science and geomorphic consulting services, GEO Morphix is hiring an Environmental Field Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with their team on a range of earth and environmental science projects including geomorphological assessments, erosion and hazard studies, and water quality and environmental monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork in support of geomorphological assessments, environmental monitoring, erosion control studies, and restoration projects
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot environmental monitoring equipment (e.g., water level loggers, turbidity sensors, rain gauges)
  • Collect and document high-quality field data following industry and company standards
  • Complete topographic surveys using RTK and total station survey equipment
  • Support sediment sampling, vegetation surveys, riverbank stability assessments, and other geomorphic assessments
  • Compile, organize, and analyze field data using software such as Excel, GIS, and statistical tools
  • Maintain detailed and accurate field notes and logs for reporting and quality purposes
  • Follow all company health and safety policies and field protocols to minimize risks in outdoor environments

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in environmental science, geomorphology, physical geography, earth sciences, geomatics, geology, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of experience in environmental fieldwork, ideally with a focus on geomorphology or river systems
  • Familiarity with standard field equipment: RTK GPS survey units, total stations, water level and discharge data loggers, water quality meters, etc.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in rugged terrain, on or near water, and in a variety of weather conditions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in data collection and documentation
  • GIS skills (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data processing experience considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to carry equipment and work on-foot for extended periods
  • Valid G Class driver’s license and willingness to travel for fieldwork

Additional Information
Location: 83 Little Bridge Street, Unit 12, Almonte, ON, K0A 1A0
Job Status: Contract, hourly, full-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
Travel: Frequent travel to field sites in Ottawa region
