Description

Currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Coordinator at its mining operation. Located within 2-hour drive of The Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario shoreline, the Adirondack Mountains and world class skiing at Lake Placid. Explore Canada with Montreal and Ottawa only 2-3 hours away.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay organized
  • Ability to use computer for written communication, tracking, and submitting reports
  • Industry experience preferred
  • MSHA Trainer Certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skill in written and verbal communication (in English)
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities
  • Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations
  • Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as needed
  • Provide safety training & education
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Inspect work environments underground and on the surface
  • Investigate accidents
  • Accompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visits
  • Evaluate and recommend control measures to minimize risk
  • Stay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulations
  • Schedule annual required physicals and hearing tests
  • Assist with weekly and monthly H&S reporting
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required records
  • Work with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety culture
  • Other reasonable duties as needed.
