Description Position Summary The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations—with a particular emphasis on EPA and DOT standards. This role leads environmental compliance initiatives, manages reporting obligations, and drives continuous improvement across facility operations to reduce risk, improve environmental performance, and safeguard employee health and safety. Key Responsibilities • Environmental Compliance (EPA-Focused) • Serve as the facility’s primary expert on EPA regulations, including CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA, and associated state/local requirements. • Manage and ensure accurate and timely submission of all EPA-mandated reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI/Form R, GHG reporting, NPDES, SPCC updates, hazardous waste manifests). • Conduct routine environmental audits, inspections, and monitoring to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. • Oversee hazardous waste management, including storage, labeling, profiling, transportation, and disposal in accordance with RCRA. • Lead spill prevention and response planning; maintain and update SPCC and contingency plans. • Interface with EPA, state agencies, and local regulators during inspections, permitting processes, and reporting. • Track regulatory changes and assess operational impacts; update programs and procedures accordingly. • Risk Assessment & Control: o Conduct hazard analyses and implement control measures for chemical, biological, and physical risks. o Develop and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labeling systems. • Training & Awareness: o Deliver specialized training on hazardous materials handling, spill response, and emergency procedures. o Promote safety culture through ongoing education and engagement. • Incident Response & Investigation: o Lead emergency response for spills, leaks, or exposure incidents. o Investigate accidents and near misses; recommend corrective actions. • Health & Safety Management o Stay abreast of safety requirements involving DOT-level Drivers and ensure awareness of applicable laws and regulations. o Implement and manage OSHA-compliant safety programs, policies, and training. o Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action follow-up. o Lead hazard assessments (JHAs, industrial hygiene sampling, PPE evaluations). o Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and compliance documentation. o Promote a strong safety culture and ensure consistent adherence to company standards. Requirements Qualifications & Skills • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, or related field preferred. • Experience: 3–5 years in EHS roles, preferably in hazardous materials environments (manufacturing, chemical, pharma, transportation etc.). • Certifications: OSHA HAZWOPER, NEBOSH, CSP, or equivalent required/preferred. • Skills: o Strong knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and best practices. o Excellent communication and training skills. o Ability to lead emergency response and incident investigations. o Proficiency in EHS management systems and reporting tools.
