ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS) MANAGER

The EHS Manager is a key member of the facility’s leadership team, reporting directly to the Global Director of EHS. This role is responsible for fostering a strong culture of safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing effective EHS programs that protect employees, visitors, and the environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of facility-level EHS leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of USDA, BRC, FDA, and HACCP standards preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CSHM, CHMM, or similar are a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and cloud-based EHS systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for audits, conferences, or other work-related activities.
  • Ability to work in environments with potential allergens.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, climb ladders and stairs, and perform similar activities.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example, demonstrating and promoting the organization’s core values.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and mentor to team members across the facility.
  • Apply both experience and innovative approaches to EHS initiatives and problem-solving.
  • Anticipate potential workplace hazards, evaluate corrective strategies, assist with control implementation, and monitor completion of related projects at the facility level.
  • Analyze reports, metrics, and other data to guide the development of projects and improvement plans aimed at reducing risk.
  • Coordinate responses, investigations, and corrective actions related to EHS incidents.
  • Manage workers’ compensation reporting, documentation, data, and costs.
  • Develop and maintain EHS-related databases and recordkeeping systems.
  • Interpret applicable regulations, industry best practices, research findings, and other relevant information to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations by educating facility leadership, managing daily EHS activities, implementing programs and policies, and conducting self-assessment audits.
  • Participate in corporate, customer, and government EHS audits.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with organizational, client, and local requirements.
  • Provide training on policies, regulations, and procedures as assigned.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed.
