Description

Teqniq is searching for a Environmental Health Officer Food/Health & Safety to work in the public sector.
36 hours per week.
3 months contract.
09:00-17:00

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Food/Health and Safety qualified EHO to carry out New Premises and Category A-D food hygiene inspections, as well as dealing with food/H&S complaints and RIDDOR investigations. Ideally an experienced EHO but would consider those with limited experience

SKILLS

Good interpersonal skills, an ability to build trusted relationships quickly, often in emotionally challenging situations, and the ability to respond calmly and deescalate any conflict.
An ability to understand and explain legislation, procedures and requirements to others, to improve compliance and clearly inform on consequences and penalties of non compliance.
An ability to listen carefully to another’s point of view and influence their behaviour through sharing of knowledge and outlining consequences.
Good written communication skills, ability to clearly and accurately document activity and consequences in correspondence and evidence.
Ability to assess the right intervention based on the risk to the public of non-compliance with regulations. Ability to make quick time decisions on how to achieve compliance and reduce risk.
Ability to plan and manage workload to agreed targets and standards within an agreed timeframe.
Ability to work with minimal supervision whilst out in the community and understand when and how to escalate risk.
Ability to build close working relationships with a range of different teams, both from inside and outside the council to deliver the service aims and objectives.
Good IT skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. A willingness to use handheld technology to record information and undertake tasks and respond to customers whilst working in the city.
MUST HAVE: Degree in Environmental Health or other relevant qualifications.
Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant other qualifications or experience that would allow the post holder to undertake the role.
For roles in our food service you must meet the Food Standards Agency competency framework contained within the Food Law Code of Practice Guidance and be registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB)/ CIEH Register.
