Description REPORTS TO: Shipyard Superintendent / Vice-President / President MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Environmental Health & Safety Admin (EHS) is responsible for the administration of various shipyard support fields (health, environmental, safety, logistics, etc.). The EHS will interact with over 10 different trades, and multiple subcontractors that are directly involved with ship production and will need to obtain a basic grasp of each to obtain success in this role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS: Implement and conduct various environmental tests to maintain and improve shipyard environmental compliance Prepare documents for regular shipyard audits by OSHA, insurance companies, US Coast Guard, etc. Monitor and interpret regulatory changes to ensure the organization remains compliant with evolving laws and guidelines Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, procedures, and environmental control Create and maintain records for skilled trades trainings Develop safety training matrix Update documentation and perform distribution of shipyard procedures to applicable personnel Identify project risks and communicate recommendations to the Shipyard Superintendent, including: Safety and loss control concerns Subcontractor and supplier issues Site conditions and logistics challenges Scheduling conflicts and delays Change orders and document conflicts Maintain clear and consistent communication across departments to support operations All other duties as assigned based on operational needs. Requirements REQUIREMENTS: 3 Years of experience in an EHS related field OR; A EHS-relevant Bachelor’s degree in EHS-relevant background preferred Basic understanding of shipyard operations and multiple skilled trades (e.g., welding, pipefitting, electrical, marine painting) Familiarity with OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements on a state and federal level Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent judgment and attention to detail Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization and with external partners Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: All types of physical movement are required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions Ability to work in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods Ability to perform repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers Ability to use upper and lower extremities Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders up to 24' at heights up to 70', stairs, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter inside of tanks, and confined spaces, through hatches, and manholes Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds Ability to traverse uneven terrain, including loose pack gravel Ability to work over bodies of water MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed. Hand-eye coordination required. HAZARDS: Weather, fumes, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, equipment, and vibration. SHIFT: Monday – Friday 40 - 45+ hours a week 7:00am – 3:30pm Overtime and Weekends required based on business needs WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY?
