DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs to assure the safety of our employees and upkeep of the facility.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • BS/BA degree in safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or environmental sciences
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safety in a manufacturing setting
  • Thorough knowledge of MIOSHA regulations and any other safety-related regulations by which the Corporation is governed
  • Basic understanding of ergonomics and industrial hygiene practices
  • Basic understanding of facilities and building maintenance
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain EHS roadmap for site, communication and execution expectations
  • Lead Facilities Supervisor and their direct team on maintaining and updating the facility. Including general building maintenance, custodial needs, vendor management, capital projects and other items.
  • Identify and evaluate occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions. Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • Develop controls for identified hazards. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control system, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain appropriate MIOSHA records of persons treated, review all accident reports for completeness, and conduct investigations into causes of accidents to develop preventive measures for the future.
  • Assist plant management in ensuring that machinery and processes are in compliance with MIOSHA and other regulatory agencies under which we are governed. Review all new equipment prior to purchase to ensure that it is MIOSHA approved. Assist plant management in scheduling and conducting monthly safety inspections throughout the facility.
  • Direct environmental compliance programs related to hazardous waste, air permitting, water pollution control and other environmental programs.
  • Conduct ergonomic reviews of workstations to prevent, and in response to, repetitive stress injuries.
  • Provide consultative guidance and information to Management on safety & environmental aspects, priorities, risks, associated costs, performance, major issues and interpretation of regulatory requirements.
  • Support effective implementation of all GMP requirements and understand how it affects products/processes supported and/or owned.
  • Lead and support audits as needed relating to EH&S compliance and facility standards compliance.
