Responsibilities
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and maintenance of corporate safety and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring PRIDE provides a safe and environmentally responsible workplace in compliance with OSHA Industrial Safety Standards.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with Florida Department of Corrections safety inspectors and staff to maintain consistent and effective safety and environmental compliance.
  • Audit all PRIDE industries annually for potential safety or environmental hazards, implement corrective action plans for identified deficiencies, and perform follow-up reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Train, counsel, and advise staff on safety and environmental matters to promote a proactive approach to workplace safety for all PRIDE employees and inmate workers.
  • Stay informed on current safety and environmental literature by attending seminars and meetings and monitoring relevant federal and state laws impacting the company.
  • Set target areas and long-term goals for accident prevention and cost control.
  • Audit work practices to verify adherence to safety and environmental policies and procedures, enforce corrective actions when necessary, and ensure continuing compliance.
  • Represent the corporation in interactions with OSHA, EPA, DOC, FDEP, State Fire Marshal, and other external inspectors as needed.
  • Maintain required emission permits from federal, state, or local authorities using personal expertise rather than consulting firms.
  • Develop and implement methods for collecting and archiving data required for NPDES and other pollutant discharge permits for all relevant PRIDE operations.
  • Act as company liaison with governing bodies, including State Fire Marshal, FDEP, FDOC, EPA, and OSHA, for safety and environmental issues.
  • Serve as Project Manager for environmental cleanup projects when required.
  • Conduct quarterly Safety Committee meetings with Corporate Safety Committee members.
  • Perform internal safety and environmental audits at each PRIDE location at least once per year, with a minimum of three audits monthly, following a scheduled calendar developed annually. Each audit includes follow-up visits to confirm that deficiencies are corrected. Focus areas include conditions or activities that may pose safety or environmental risks, as well as work practice reviews. Drive individual location managers to resolve audit findings promptly, ensuring no deficiency remains uncorrected or without a correction plan within 30 days
