Summary
Tarkett is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to help develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related injuries / illnesses, using a behavioral based approach. This role is located in Farnham and reports to the Operation Site Director.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary EHS support for the site, responsible for all aspects and EHS reporting
- Act as the primary voice for safety and environmental support for the site
- Assists with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program.
- Ensure compliance to all Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (CNESST, code du bâtiment ) and plant policies and procedures.
- Conduct training/assessments/audits/investigations as an important part of the World Class Manufacturing management system
- Responsible for the ISO EHS requirements as determined by standard, and audit process for continued certification
- Formulate and deliver safety training presentations and training for both small and large audiences, hourly and salaried.
- Deliver EHS orientation to new and temporary associates.
- Assist in ensuring proper training and compliance to plant EHS policies and procedures involving contractor / vendor personnel.
- Perform, document, and trend behavioral-safety observations.
- Analyze data and perform trending analysis to identify and implement corrective actions as well as develop strategic risk mitigation strategies.
- Assist in maintaining assorted databases and software programs in support of the EHS Department and Plant EHS initiatives.
- Write up the Plant’s monthly and annual reports
- Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed.
- Research safety equipment for its application and purchase.
- Assist in personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and trials as well as to ensure its proper use, maintenance and storage.
- Responsible for workers compensation claim management and return to work programs.
- Serve as an EHS Champion in furthering “Safety First” culture.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline desired.
- Minimum of five years of experience in environmental, health and safety, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of all local, provincial and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting, air permitting, and hazardous waste management.
- Knowledge of workers compensation law. Knowledge of light duty / return to work programs.
- Demonstrates strong root cause and corrective action skills. Advanced ability to facilitate RCCA problem-solving sessions.
- Excellent bilingual (French and English) verbal and written skills to include technical writing.
- Strong interpersonal and presentations skills are essential.
- Must be able to interact well at all levels of the organization.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office environment.
- To be able to work irregular hours including evening and weekends to accommodate the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
- To spend significant time working on the plant floor.

DESCRIPTION / OBJECTIF : Tarkett recherche un gestionnaire EHS pour aider à développer, établir et maintenir un programme de santé et de sécurité environnementale qui s’efforce de répondre ou de dépasser toutes les exigences réglementaires, et qui offre un environnement de travail sûr, exempt de dangers, dans la poursuite de zéro blessure / maladie liée au travail, en utilisant une approche basée sur le comportement.
QUALIFICATIONS ET EXPÉRIENCE :
- Diplôme en sécurité, santé industrielle, sciences de l’environnement, hygiène industrielle ou discipline connexe souhaité.
- Minimum de cinq ans d’expérience en environnement, santé et sécurité, de préférence dans un environnement de fabrication syndiqué.
- Solide connaissance de toutes les réglementations locales, provinciales et fédérales en matière de sécurité et d’environnement.
- Connaissance des rapports réglementaires, des permis d’air et de la gestion des déchets dangereux.
- Connaissance de la loi sur l’indemnisation des travailleurs. Connaissance des programmes de retour au travail / travail léger.
- Démontre de solides compétences en analyse des causes profondes et en actions correctives. Capacité avancée à animer des sessions de résolution de problèmes RCCA.
- Excellentes compétences bilingues (français et anglais) verbales et écrites, y compris la rédaction technique. Travail qui demande une constante communication avec les États-Unis
- Compétences interpersonnelles et de présentation essentielles.
- Doit être capable d’interagir à tous les niveaux de l’organisation.
- Compétences informatiques avancées dans l’environnement Microsoft Office.
- Capacité à travailler des heures irrégulières, y compris le soir et les week-ends, pour répondre aux besoins d’une opération de fabrication 24/7.
- Passer un temps significatif à travailler sur le terrain de l’usine.
