POSITION SUMMARY

The focus for the position of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is to lead all aspects of EHS management at the Airbus Space and Defense facility and property located in Mobile, Alabama. The position will also be responsible for providing guidance to the Airbus U.S. Space & Defense and North American Airbus team as it relates to EHS topics outside of the Mobile, AL facility.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and/or Environmental discipline, Health and Safety Engineering or related fields, or certification with 5 years proven experience in an industrial environment.
  • Certifications: OSHA, RCRA, DOT, FEMA or any other related certifications in EHS is desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, DEMONSTRATED CAPABILITIES:

  • Minimum 5 Years’ experience in a position of Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • Previous experience working in an industrial environment required.
  • Must have minimum 2+ years’ experience working in an environmental, health and safety position in a production environment.
  • Experience working with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) preferred.
  • Experience working in a facilities maintenance role supporting the facility operations preferred.
  • MS Office and SmartSheet experience preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, develop, and coordinate applicable site wide EHS training programs, including but not limited to, technical documents including policies, procedures, programs, and guidance documents.
  • Support other Airbus Space and Defense locations across the region with EHS regulatory compliance requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate, deliver, and track employee EHS training programs using various techniques including computer base, lecture and on the job-related assessments.
  • Lead hazard assessments by participating in work processes, evaluating procedures, and work steps.
  • Manage efforts related to visitor, vendor, and contractor EHS orientation training as well as EHS program evaluation prior to working on the site.
  • Develop and maintain an ISO 14001:2015 certification for the Mobile, AL site.
  • Develop and maintain an ISO 45001:2018 certification for the Mobile, AL site.
  • Focal point for all environmental compliance activities, including but not limited to, site permits, regulatory reporting, employee environmental training, internal site inspections, record retention, external environmental audits.
  • Track EHS trends, evaluate statistics on a regular basis and guide leaders using leading and lagging data driven decisions.
  • Facilitates EHS site audits, inspections, and routine surveys including developing and drafting audit documentation, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring trends.
  • Lead employee EHS ambassador team to participate in hazard identification, participation in investigations, leadership in site assessments and corrective actions.
  • Lead first responder program and ensure compliance and incident reporting.
  • Develop safety culture and drive Airbus PeopleSafety@Work program.
  • Serve as focal point for personnel safety and environmental protection for the site safety multi-function team.
  • Organize and lead industrial hygiene, fit testing, and annual audiometric testing as required.
  • Provide program support to all departments regarding regulatory compliance requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Focal point for site Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Crisis Management Team (CMT) to support the site leadership team on expected or ongoing crisis and mitigations required for people safety and business continuity.
