Position Summary: The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in EHS, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, develop, deploy and monitor Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, procedures, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, customer, and Company safety and health standards and requirements.
  • Lead supervisors and employees in implementing EHS improvements, minimizing the facilities impact, driving EHS initiatives and ensuring 3rd party and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide metrics and reports that support EHS performance and goals. Provide support to the manufacturing leadership team in safety compliance, employee ownership and EHS accountability.
  • Provide applicable management/agency notification, oversight, interface, and coaching and serve as the point of contact for all inquiries, communication and interface with Federal, State, and Local agencies/authorities.
  • Lead root-cause analysis investigations for all near-miss and/or injury occurrences. Communicate post-incident and near-miss findings through written and verbal communications and detailed incident investigations.
  • Lead continuous improvement processes to identify and eliminate high-risk tasks through review of historical incident data; leading/warning indicators; plant, process, and equipment audits; job and activity observations; and other related methods.
  • Promote and implement sustainable practices to reduce the environmental impact of the organization.
  • Actively participate in teams/committees that drive emergency preparedness, safety, and positive culture.
