JOB REQUIREMENTS

The role is required to assist and deputise for the EHS Senior Specialist on site, covering all elements of Environmental and Health & Safety policies and practices.
The EHS Specialist will ensure all regulations related to a busy food manufacturing site are adhered to at all times.

EDUCATION

A Level 4 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) is required
A Level 4 Environmental Management qualification is desirable
F&D Manufacturing experience is desirable
Knowledge of MCERTS and Environmental permits is desirable

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring working practices comply with legislation, through observation, audit and risk assessment
  • Providing practical and professional EHS advice and assistance to colleagues and managers
  • Carrying out accident investigations and championing necessary changes required to prevent re occurrence
  • Identifying and reviewing EHS processes and policies
  • Working closely with managers to improve proactive behaviours
  • Coordinating, and maintaining the EHS Management Information Systems
  • Ensuring that all policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
  • Investigating and responding proactively to EHS concerns and incidents ensuring that recommendations are made and followed up
  • Facilitating, and when required, leading in-house EHS training
  • Developing and delivering training on standard operating procedures, such as fire evacuation and accident investigation
  • Conducting risk assessments on new processes, machinery and COSHH
  • Developing safe systems of work by liaising with departments on high risk activities
  • Performing Occupational Health reviews and personal risk assessments for staff requiring amended duties or returning to work from sickness or maternity
  • Conducting accident investigations and maintain the company’s accident reporting system
  • Conducting environmental incident investigations and ensuring remedial actions are carried out when necessary
  • Monitoring EHS performance in the form of regular audits and inspections, and facilitating corrective actions
  • Arranging and leading safety committee meetings
  • Collating data from multiple sources and ensuring the Carbon Desktop system is updated, maintained, and monthly KPIs are reported
