Role reports to: EHS&S Manager
Location: Las Piedras, Puerto Rico
Travel %: Occasional (including outside Puerto Rico)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering
  • 4–6 years of experience in environmental compliance and regulatory reporting
  • Strong knowledge of EQB, EPA, DRNA, DOH, PRASA, ISO14001, and corporate audits
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to travel and respond to emergency calls outside business hours
  • Physically capable of inspections and lifting during compliance checks

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Familiarity with Statistics and GMP compliance
  • Experience conducting audits of external manufacturers and suppliers

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide subject matter expertise in environmental health, ISO 14001 implementation, and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations within a manufacturing facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and EHS programs including air, water, and waste permits
  • Lead assigned environmental programs and trainings
  • Support SOPs and internal procedures for EHS sustainability
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections
  • Act as SME for environmental reports and permitting (e.g., Title V, SARA 311/312/313, PRASA)
  • Collaborate with EHS committees and participate in waste reduction, recycling, and energy initiatives
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and renewal permits
  • Conduct assessments and provide technical support for new projects
  • Coach IOSS program initiatives and support transportation/DOT compliance
  • Serve as backup for waste pickup, sample collection, and inspections
  • Manage documentation including SOPs, GCCs, and quality records
  • Ensure emergency response readiness and participate in evacuation drills
