Rockville, Maryland 20850 Position: Environmental Health & Safety Specialists III Telecommuting: Telecommuting is available one (1) day per week. Must be on site four (4) days per week. Travel: Daily local travel to company worksites in the Rockville, Maryland area is required. Job Duties: 1. Work with site management in the reduction of injuries and incidents. 2. Provide safety engineering support to site management to ensure compliance with environmental, occupational hygiene and safety regulatory requirements. 3. Ensure site personnel are competent in performing Risk Assessments and ensuring needed Risk Assessments are completed. 4. Identify risk reduction methods and work with site management in implementing those methods. 5. Conduct Environmental, Health and Safety related training. 6. Conduct safety inspections and ensure site personnel are competent in performing safety inspections. 7. Regularly collaborate with site management, supervision and personnel on EHS related matters. 8. Prepare EHS compliance related reports and correspondence, both internally and externally (regulatory bodies). 9. Ensure site is prepared for and ready to respond in the event of emergency. 10. Ensure site’s EHS Management System is in place and functioning effectively to include: Policy, Planning, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment & Control, Legal and Other Requirements. Requirements: Employer requires a Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or closely related field, plus two (2) years of experience in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental compliance standards pertaining to laboratory operations. Employer will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or closely related field, plus five (5) years in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental compliance standards pertaining to laboratory operations. In addition, the employer requires the following: 1. Demonstrated ability in Occupational disease prevention and control methods gained through one (1) year of work experience; 2. Experience in public health with the ability to ensure the site is prepared for and ready to respond in the event of an emergency gained through two (2) years of work experience; 3. Demonstrated ability in ensuring the site’s EHS Management System is in place and functioning effectively gained through two (2) years of work experience; 4. Environmental Health and Safety Training Experience gained through two (2) years of work experience; 5. Experience providing ES support for organization with more than 20 departments; including R&D and manufacturing gained through two (2) years of work experience; and 6. Experience providing EHS support to a site with greater than 800 employees through two (2) years of work experience. Salary range is one hundred twenty thousand dollars per year to one hundred sixty-five thousand dollars per year. Compensation is based on experience, location, and other factors.
