Alberta Health Services (AHS) is hiring Environmental Services I (Cleaner/Housekeeper). We are looking for someone who is reliable, works well on their own, takes pride in their work, and prioritize safety. We’ll train you to safely clean and disinfect our healthcare buildings. Environmental I position is responsible for following cleaning and disinfecting protocols while cleaning surfaces and patient equipment in assigned areas, such as patient rooms, examination and treatment rooms, emergency rooms, operating theatres, public and patient washrooms, offices and corridors. Duties include includes clean-up of blood and body fluids, washing walls, using a ladder/step stool to change privacy cubicle curtains, routine floor care (operate scrubbers, buffers/burnishers) and removing waste (e.g. garbage, shredding, biomedical) to designated holding areas. You will have to wear personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, gowns, eye protection) for long parts of their shift while following protocols to keep yourself safe. These tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced environment. Environmental Services staff need to work in places that can sometimes be stressful. They must remain kind and respectful when interacting with patients and staff who may be under pressure. Shift schedules may include of day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. As an Environmental I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, restocking supplies in bathroom facilities and, stripping linen and remaking beds. This includes replenishing cleaning supplies and linens and identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader.
