THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tetra Tech is adding a Environmental Monitoring Technician to our Environment and Water team based in Vancouver, BC.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental or Biological Sciences (technical diploma) and professional registration (Applied Biology Technician) in BC required, or candidate would meet requirements to apply for In-Training or full credential status.
  • Environmental Monitoring and/or Environmental Consulting experience of between 1 to 4 years desired.
  • Familiarity with BC specific environmental legislation and regulations is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and must provide a current drivers abstract. Suitable candidate must be comfortable driving to various locations around the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley or Vancouver Island.
  • Experience with standard water quality monitoring or sampling equipment and data collection is an asset.
  • Requires valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Must be physically capable of working on undeveloped and/or challenging sites, around heavy equipment and in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, practicing safe work methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication for working with a Contractor.
Responsibilities
  • Conducting daily independent environmental monitoring of construction projects that may be urban projects, in-stream projects or other undeveloped sensitive environment locations. All monitoring will be conducted under the supervision of other team members.
  • Work outside in varied weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work accurately and quickly to meet deadlines.
  • Be punctual and able to start work early in the morning.
  • Health and Safety for work at the project site.
  • Willingness to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
