Due to our on-going development, we are seeking to recruit the following professionals:
Location: Based Bury, Greater Manchester
Role: Cheetham Hill Construction is a family-owned Civil Engineering business based in Bury, Greater Manchester. We carry out a huge variety of civil engineering and construction contracts, ranging in value from £5,000 to £15million for an increasingly broad spectrum of clients.
We are hoping to find an Environmental Management graduate to join our QESH department. Ideally someone with an interest in construction and looking for a varied and autonomous role within a well-established company. You will split your time between being office-based and visiting sites primarily across the North-West and Yorkshire liaising with management and employees.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline
  • An ability to communicate clearly both verbally and through written work with a high level of computer literacy, in particular Microsoft Office
  • An understanding of the importance of health, safety, quality and environmental excellence
  • Willingness to travel to locations across the North of England.
  • A sound understanding of relevant UK environmental and planning legislation.
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and associated documentation.
  • A working knowledge of sustainability and carbon reduction, with an understanding of Net Zero and emissions categories.
  • Strong analytical skills for inputting and interpreting carbon reporting data.
  • Working towards or qualified as a Trained internal environmental auditor.
  • Planning and managing tasks to meet requirements and deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • To lead on Environmental tasks and assist the QESH Department in developing and maintaining industry standards and legislation
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Company’s Integrated Management System to ISO14001.
  • Be available to all employees for specialist environmental advice including carbon net-zero and sustainable practice.
  • Assist in the production of Construction Environmental Management Plans
  • Proactively liaise with statutory and non-statutory bodies
  • Complete pre-qualification and tender questionnaires relating to Environmental aspects.
  • Assist with the Company’s sustainability strategy including the use of purpose-built software
  • To undertake the planning, coordination, and execution of internal audits of the EMS, including the identification of non-compliances, corrective actions monitoring and reporting.
  • To support external audits, inspections, or investigations, as required, to meet the requirements of our clients, their agents, certification bodies or regulators etc
  • To work closely with key stakeholders to support the delivery of decarbonisation plans and liaise with other business functions, as necessary, to promote environmental requirements, as well as good practice.
