JOB DESCRIPTION

Statkraft is the largest generator of renewable energy in Europe and an established participant within the various US environmental commodities markets. As part of the Origination department, the Statkraft US team manages a long-term portfolio of third-party renewable energy contracts. This portfolio usually consists of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and long-term sales contracts with a variety of large customers and trading partners. Currently, the team is expanding its activities to the US power and renewables markets, specifically PJM & ERCOT. The team is responsible for the origination, pricing, structuring, and portfolio management of all bilateral power and Renewable Energy Credits (REC) deals.

The role of Environmental Products Quantitative Analyst is ideal for someone who is always thinking about how to optimize, and loves working with data, solving problems, and making a measurable impact. As an Environmental Products Quantitative Analyst, you will:

  • Design and implement analytical tools to monitor environmental product portfolios, enabling real-time insights into positions, pricing, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Originators to build scalable, user-friendly solutions to support trade decisions and streamline trade execution.
  • Build robust data pipelines to enable real-time risk analytics and PnL tracking.
  • Drive trade ideation by extracting quantitative insights from market data.
  • Contribute to the evolution of internal platforms by identifying opportunities for automation, performance optimization, and enhanced trader experience.
  • Stay current with environmental market developments and apply quantitative techniques to support pricing, valuation, and strategy development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience within a quantitative focused role.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another highly quantitative field.
  • Advanced coding skills, preferably Python.
  • Experience building tools from the ground up, from database design to front-end development.
  • Experience collaborating and building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, influencing business decisions with data.
  • Highly analytical, data driven individual with advanced statistical skills.
  • Interest in energy markets, renewable energy, algorithms, and data science.
  • Inquisitiveness and a desire for continued self-improvement and development of new skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently, take initiative and be proactive in ambiguous situations.
  • Efficient communicator with the ability to explain complex issues simply and effectively
