Michigan Consulting & Environmental (MCE) is seeking a full-time Environmental Project Manager to join our Brighton office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental professional who thrives on managing complex projects and has a strong working knowledge of Michigan’s regulatory framework, particularly Part 213 and Part 201 reporting requirements.
In this role, you will lead environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through execution, with a significant emphasis on preparing and reviewing Initial Assessment Reports (IARs), Final Assessment Reports (FARs), Closure Reports, and other deliverables required under Parts 213 and 201. You’ll coordinate field activities, manage subcontractors, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and deliver high-quality work on time and within budget. This is a key position within a collaborative team where your expertise in regulatory reporting and project leadership will be highly valued.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders including local, state, federal regulators, project managers, project engineers, and other members of the project team.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: B.S. degree in geology, engineering, or the sciences.
  • Minimum of 4 years of environmental related consulting experience including environmental investigations, sampling, and report writing.
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Industrial Stormwater Operator
  • Asbestos Inspector
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER certification.
  • Perform field related responsibilities during all four seasons.
  • Requires travel to job sites and, on occasion, out of the local area for overnight stays.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug-related traffic offenses.
  • Ability to physically walk freely around job sites and equipment as needed and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
  • Oversee/Support the removal of Underground Storage Tanks
  • Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects, and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems.
  • Preparation and review of Initial Assessment Reports (IAR), Final Assessment Reports (FAR) and Closure Reports.
  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.
  • Perform Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments to support property transfer transactions.
  • Prepare SPCC and SWPPP plans, secondary containment, and environmental control studies and reports.
  • Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from Project Managers.
  • Mentor and train Field and Staff Scientist in conducting field work, including soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, soil boring and monitoring well installation oversight and soil logging, well development, purging and sampling, installation of vapor points and vapor pins and collection of soil vapor samples.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
