JOB SUMMARY

TerraWest is searching for an ambitious and growth-minded Environmental Project Manager to join our team in the Nanaimo office. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key leadership role in shaping the future of our environmental consulting services. As an Environmental Project Manager, you will take on a pivotal leadership role in delivering high-quality environmental consulting services. You will oversee and manage a variety of projects with technical precision, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining strong client relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Membership: A Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field. Active membership or eligibility for membership with a recognized professional organization is required (AScT, P.Eng., P.Geo., R.P.Bio., P.Chem., P.Ag., or equivalent).
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, including at least 3 years in BC. Direct expertise in contaminated site assessments and remediation is essential.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills, including budget and schedule management, with a track record of delivering successful projects.
  • Versatility and Attitude: Maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude and a willingness to take on diverse job requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and programs.
  • Communication: A professional demeanor and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical Fitness: Physically fit and capable of performing fieldwork.
  • Transportation: Ready access to a vehicle and a clean Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Travel Flexibility: Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to project locations.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) with attention to detail and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting and overseeing Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs) and Detailed Site Investigations (DSIs).
  • Developing, managing, and monitoring project budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints.
  • Managing hazardous materials investigations, including asbestos, lead, and mould assessments.
  • Designing and implementing effective environmental remediation plans, overseeing remediation projects to ensure they meet client and regulatory standards.
  • Providing expertise in preparing and securing regulatory permits, instruments, and approvals, including liaison with relevant agencies.
  • Fostering strong relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to build trust and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff to promote professional growth and maintain high standards across the team.
