JOB OVERVIEW

APTIM currently has an opportunity for a junior to mid-level Environmental Scientist or Engineer with a focus on Task Management to support our increasing growth of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) project work at Department of Defense (DOD) facilities nationwide. The successful candidate will work side-by-side with the Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager in a variety of supporting roles, build their task management skill set, and have opportunities to interact with clients. The preferred candidate would be a scientist or engineer with prior experience supporting environmental projects in a technical role. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members including client representatives. The preferred location for this position is in our Pittsburgh, PA office however other locations and remote work may be considered.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience in direct support of environmental projects; prior experience directly related to AFFF a plus.
  • Proficient in a variety of software such as Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Previous experience with Auto Construction Cloud and/or AI processes considered a plus.
  • Possess a Bachelors’ degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record with the ability to travel to project sites and APTIM offices as required.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Performs various task management activities from project initiation through project closeout in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
  • Collect, organize, and review field data collected on tablet PCs for accuracy. Work with the field team to correct any errors that are identified.
  • Prepare text, create tables, generate figures and create and edit photo logs to accurately depict site activities.
  • Assist with writing and developing multiple plans and reports, including Site Visit Reports, Work Plans, and Final Reports documenting site conditions, demolition and waste disposal tasks.
  • Possess the ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Meet time-critical deadlines with support from the project team.
  • Assisting the Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager with various project tasks including but not limited to scheduling field teams for site visits, reviewing project schedule updates for accuracy, and developing client meeting agendas.
  • Tracking completion of various project tasks, including the status of wastes generated and disposed, via spreadsheets.
  • Support monthly progress reporting and invoicing.
  • Maintain strict adherence to company safety and quality programs.
  • Travel generally not expected but must be willing to travel on occasion.
