JOB DESCRIPTION

The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist for immediate employment with the EHS Department in the Conshohocken, Pennsylvania or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office.
The main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessment per ASTM and AAI standards to private and public sector clients. Perform implementation activities for Phase II ESA’s including environmental field sampling (soil and groundwater), interpret laboratory results and prepare Phase II ESA reports for commercial, industrial and public sector clients.
The position will require that the candidate be available to perform work in both the field and office, and be able to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from one day to one week, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a relevant environmental discipline + 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in environmental due diligence assessments related to private (commercial, industrial, power, oil/gas, rail, and manufacturing) and public sector clients.
  • Experience in environmental sampling and waste management is a plus.
  • Familiar with Applicable ASTM and AAI standards and environmental sampling.
  • A general understanding of USEPA and PA environmental regulations is desired.
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training is desired.
  • Tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a range of weather conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires entrance into the AECOM Medical Monitoring Program which includes initial and annual physicals and may include client required drug screens.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
