POSITION SUMMARY The Environmental Services Director (ESD) is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing daily operations to provide a clean, safe, well-maintained, aesthetically pleasing environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position will hold primary responsibility for the environmental services department, which includes maintenance, renovations, landscaping, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation. Together with the entire team at Channing House, your role contributes to promoting a healthy, safe, secure and vibrant home for our residents.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities:  Leadership: * Manage resources and lead team in a way that achieves budgetary and productivity goals and in support of the organization’s strategic goals. * Maintain the department's budget and ensure fiscally responsibility in accordance with the budget and financial policies. * Hire, onboard, train, coach, schedule and evaluate staff. * Directly manage 3 supervisory positions (Facilities Manager, Renovations& Transportation Supervisor, Housekeeping Manager) and their respective teams. * Maintain the physical property and processes in an “inspection ready” status and ensure compliance with Fire & Life Safety, Infection Control, Transportation and other applicable regulations. * Ensure an effective preventative maintenance program is in place and adhered to. * Ensure that the building and grounds are clean and well maintained for a positive first impression with excellent curb appeal. * Manage quarterly priorities and employee performance utilizing the management tool, EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System).  * Develop and support a team that is respectful, honest, hard-working, with a culture of pride in their work. * Ensure the Environmental Services Department maintains sufficient tools, supplies, and equipment to safely and effectively meet departmental expectations. * Communicate and coordinate regularly with other departments to ensure maximum plant operations with minimal disruption to staff and residents. * Plan and execute projects to timely completion.  * Be available on-call, or designate an on-call manager, for any after-hours emergencies. * Ensure that the work of outside contractors is approved and supervised. * Communicate, coordinate with and engage residents in a friendly manner while ensuring resident requests are responded to in a manner that is consistent with the organization’s policies and practices. * Support technology innovations and related changes in workflow. Training: * Ensure staff participation in recurring staff training and yearly evacuation plans and other drills.•    Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.  * Provide and/or arrange training so that staff embrace and utilize technology innovations and changes to their workflow. * Attend conferences related to senior living, facilities management, infection control and other applicable topics to keep abreast of best practices in the field. Upholding Company Standards: Consistent commitment to: * Establish and maintain effective team relationships with fellow staff; apply effective communication and listening skills * Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with all residents, colleagues, clients, vendors, and members of the public * Provide a supportive and caring environment to meet the needs of residents as individuals and as members of a shared community * Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and compliance practices, and business ethics codes REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * 3-5 years of related work experience.  * Background in fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems desired.  * High School diploma or GED; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted. * Ability to use computer; familiarity in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel. * Knowledge of Work Order Systems and Inventory Systems. * Speak and comprehend English.  Work Environment:  * Generally in an indoor setting.  * Supervise activities and events outdoors. May be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities. * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. * Position requires ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays.  Physical Demands:   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
