Description

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a hands-on Environmental Services Supervisor in St. Joseph, MO to join our team.
This is a working manager role where the majority of time will be spent performing cleaning duties—primarily in the evenings after standard work hours—with some responsibilities for coordinating and supporting the cleaning team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience within custodial, janitorial, or related work preferred.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite – Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a small team effectively.
  • Great time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong prioritization, delegation and multi-tasking ability.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to travel between work sites.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Regularly lift weight up to 20 pounds to waist height.
  • Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 24 inches.
  • Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
  • Able to tolerate repetitive movements: bending and overhead reaching.
  • Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 12 inches from the floor.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder.
  • Regularly ascend/descend stairs.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, stand and sit for extended time.
  • Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
  • Exposure to various chemical cleaners on a daily basis.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and coordinate cleaners across multiple properties in the St. Joseph area.
  • Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services.
  • Develop and manage weekly cleaning schedules to ensure proper coverage at all sites.
  • Provide direction, training, and support to cleaning staff.
  • Inspect work for quality standards and address any issues promptly.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and coordinate restocking as needed.
  • Serve as point of contact for facility managers and communicate updates to leadership.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
