Job Title: Environmental Services Supervisor Campus: Judson Manor Department: Environmental Services Reports to: Director of Operations General Purpose: Oversee the work of housekeeping and laundry personnel to ensure the members of South Franklin Circle have a safe, clean, and comfortable environment to live. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Promote and encourage positive interdepartmental and member relationships. • Work with other departments in a positive effort towards problem solving and improving facility operations. • Provide direct supervision and instruction to personnel including training, scheduling assignments, and evaluating performance. • Assist in the recruiting and orientation of personnel. • Prepare employee payroll and department budgets, monitoring costs accordingly. • Purchase and monitor inventories and control the distribution of departmental supplies. • Ensure the proper operation and upkeep of department equipment. • Identify and expedite facility repairs. • Assist in setting departmental goals and monitor the status with the Director as needed. • Address employee performance or attendance issues by presenting disciplines or terminations as appropriate based on the South Franklin Circle Associate Handbook. • Able to perform all tasks of an environmental services worker or laundry worker for training purposes and to be able to pitch in as needed. For example: greets members with a smile and a positive attitude; calls members by Mr. or Mrs.; uses a member’s first name only if it has been requested; and responds to members’ needs with a sense of urgency. • Provides honest and open communication with employees and members. • Encourages teamwork among employees within the Environmental Services department as well as all other departments. • Willing to pitch in and assist employees when they are falling behind in their duties. • Attention to quality and detail of work such as in the scheduling of environmental service workers to ensure members’ homes are cleaned at their scheduled time. • Highest regard for professionalism and personal appearance. • Strong communication, oral, written, and listening skills. Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications: • High school diploma or GED. • A minimum of three years supervisory/management experience in institutional laundry and housekeeping operations. • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass physical examination upon employment and periodically thereafter if so required. Have no handicaps which would preclude the performance of the essential functions outlined in this job description. Physical demands may include kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching, pushing, manipulating stairs, talking, hearing, standing for extended periods, crouching, stooping, walking, lifting a minimum of 60 pounds, and repetitive motion. Working Conditions: Controlled climate and all types of weather. Must be able to tolerate working conditions consistent with duties outlined in this job description; e.g. reasonable noise levels, dust and other particulate matter, exposure to a variety of cleaning chemicals and odors, and an environment that supports animal life.
