Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist Lead (full-time, permanent) to join our team on the St. Clair Transmission Line Project based out of Chatham, ON.
The Environmental Specialist Lead will work onsite in Chatham, ON with Operations and Project Management and a team of Environmental Specialists. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that project operational activities, undertaken or proposed by Forbes Bros Ltd. (FBL), are aligned with the project Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and protection plans, regulations, and all other relevant environmental documents and commitments. This position requires the individual to be on site Monday - Friday with flexibility to accommodate project hours and site schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and supporting the project Environmental Specialists with responsibilities outlined but not limited to below:
  • Providing environmental support to the on-site construction and project management team(s)
  • Confirming that permits and approvals are in place ahead of construction activities for both FBL employees and any subcontractors
  • Developing and implementing project environmental plans to ensure that work is completed in compliance with all relevant client requirements as well as provincial and/or federal regulations
  • Evaluating compliance with industry best management practices, environmental mitigation measures outlined in the EMP
  • Monitoring and proactive reporting of any potential environmental issues to the environmental lead and construction manager, including recommendations and implementation strategies for the appropriate corrective actions
  • Documenting daily on-site environmental inspections and maintaining a photographic log of site activities and conditions
  • Preparing monthly environmental monitoring reports with the support of Environmental Specialists
  • Training of employees and contractors on environmental awareness and aspects
  • Working closely with construction crews, and client environmental representatives to ensure requirements are achieved
  • Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
