What you’ll be doing

  • Carry out Environmental impact Assessments (EIA) and support the design and operational teams with delivery of the EIA.
  • Support projects with the sustainability delivery plans inclusive of the Balfour Beatty group strategy, customer standards and other project requirements.
  • Manage and ensure associated data capture and reporting including the Balfour Beatty sustainability portal and external platforms where required
  • Support the project teams to ensure they are compliant with the BMS requirements
  • Develop the contract/ project team’s knowledge and skills to understand the sustainability related project requirements including understanding how their roles impact the overall ambitions
  • Provide on-going expertise, support and coaching to the contract, project teams and supply chain, to enable them to recognise risks and opportunities, to deliver, and where possible exceed targets
  • Identify suitable awards and opportunities to promote project activities, including the production of case studies and relevant communications

THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE ARE ESSENTIAL:

  • Experience of developing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Ability to influence and promote a positive culture
  • Understanding of UK policy, regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding and practical experience of project Environmental Sustainability risks and opportunities and how they practically impact on the ‘built environment’
  • Programme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documenting progress through KPI monitoring and performance reporting
  • Practical experience of Environmental Sustainability in a construction environment
  • Experience in identifying innovation and developing case studies to promote project successes
  • Ability to articulate to and influence key stakeholders on how environmental sustainability practically impacts on clients, suppliers, communities, and stakeholders
  • Communication and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrates commitment to continual learning to refine, further develop and apply expertise to add distinctive value to customers and Balfour Beatty
  • Experience of managing and analysing sustainability data
  • Strong ability to work independently, planning own diary and work schedule in line with business and project expectations.
