Environmental & Sustainability Advisor


Location: Glasgow

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Working: Office-based with travel to sites


We are working with a leading civil engineering business to recruit an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join their Glasgow team.


This is a varied role supporting environmental, carbon and sustainability requirements across civil engineering projects, working closely with project teams, site personnel, suppliers and subcontractors.


Duties Include:


• Carbon and energy reporting, including GHG Protocol

• Assessing the carbon and environmental impact of construction materials

• Environmental compliance across civil engineering projects

• Preparing CEMPs, Pollution Prevention Plans and Habitat Management Plans

• Waste management, pollution prevention and protected species

• Supporting SEPA regulatory requirements, authorisations and licensing

• Environmental performance and due diligence across the supply chain

• Assessing suppliers against environmental, ethical trading, governance, modern slavery and social value criteria

• Environmental reporting, data analysis and continuous improvement

• Site visits, inspections and providing practical environmental advice to project teams


About You:


• Experience working on or supporting civil engineering projects

• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to construction

• Experience with carbon and energy reporting

• Knowledge of the GHG Protocol

• Experience preparing environmental documentation, particularly CEMPs and Pollution Prevention Plans

• Knowledge of SEPA requirements and environmental permitting/licensing

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• The ability to work independently and use your own initiative

• Strong communication skills and a practical, site-focused approach

• A willingness to travel to project sites as required
