The estimated  per hourly range for this position is $22 - 30 per hour based on experience.    Are you passionate about sustainability? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Sustainability & Environmental function. As a Environmental & Sustainability Co-Op, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.       Key Responsibilities:    Data Management: Upload and enter utilities data for all S&C locations; assist with compliance related data collection, tracking, and reporting; collect and analyze waste management data, creating monthly performance dashboards.     Research & Benchmarking: Hunt for grants and incentives for renewable energy investments while evaluating different renewable energy sources, and their pros and cons; update and compare sustainability data with industry standards; analyze how companies report on UN Sustainable Development Goals; research and summarize zero waste to landfill programs and circular economy practices.     Field Work & Event Support: Assist with soil sampling and pollinator audits in our native garden; support onsite audits to collect data for environmental compliance while networking with folks in production operations; help organize Sustainability Week events, including recycling and waste collection.       What you’ll Need To Succeed:    Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):    Must be in good standing as a student at the Bachelor’s degree level at an accredited university majoring in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemistry, or related field and returning to school full-time at the end of the internship.       Comfortable commuting and working onsite at S&C HQ in Rogers Park, Chicago, IL.    Ability to work Full-Time in Summer 2026.   Minimum Technical Skills:   Data Management:  Proficiency in data entry, data collection, and data analysis   Environmental Compliance: Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements   Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough research and benchmarking   Software Proficiency: Familiarity with data management and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI, etc.)   Minimum Soft Skills:   Attention to Detail: Precision in data handling and reporting   Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills   Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills   Team Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team and network with different departments   Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills    Preferred:    Prior environmental and sustainability internship/co-op experience a plus    Skills in organizing and supporting events   Hands-on experience with environmental fieldwork (e.g., soil sampling, water sampling, waste sampling, audits, etc.)   Familiarity with 99% landfill free, circular economy principles, and similar programs      Ready to make an impact and become an employee-owner?
