Description

G3 Consulting Ltd. is a small, impactful environmental firm based in Surrey, BC that has been in business for over 31 years. We are dedicated to ethical, innovative science and meaningful research that supports both our clients and staff. G3 is posting an opportunity for a qualified environmental technician to join our team. We are an aquatic consulting firm specializing in studies of both the marine and aquatic environments. Most of our studies are large integrative studies, involving sediments, biota, water, fish and point and non-point discharges serving the federal and provincial governments, industry, and First Nations. Projects are throughout BC and Canada and involve field work, travel and office-based assignments.
You would be working in a team environment with senior mentorship and oversight and collect samples and field data, do data compilation and analysis and generate reports. In addition, work would entail using a variety of sampling equipment and techniques in marine and freshwater environments and require analytical and project management skills, knowledge of provincial and federal regulations and policies and applied ecology (fish, benthic invertebrates, species at risk, etc.).
The preferred candidate would have an applicable degree and 5-8 years experience with good knowledge of Word, Excel and Teams and a working knowledge of statistics. Experience in applied fisheries techniques (gill nets, seine and fyke nets, minnow traps, etc) and marine sampling equipment (Smith Mac, dopplers, YSI) is an asset. This work can require you being away for extended periods and often entails long days and physical activity. Safety training and experience with boats, trucks, ATVs and trailers is also an asset. Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD and modelling is considered a strong asset. Formal and on-the-job training will be provided.
This is a permanent full-time, in-office position that offers good advancement potential, flexible work arrangements, good starting wage and benefits. A vehicle and driver’s license are required. Interested candidates should send their resume and a short cover letter outlining their skills and why this job is best suited to them to: Stacy Johnson at sjohnson@g3consulting.com
