MPS Group Inc. is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team at the GM Fort Wayne Plant. This individual will be responsible for handling of solid and recyclable wastes.    Shift Details: Shift: 3rd Schedule: Thursday - Sunday morning 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. There is also the potential for required Saturday overtime 2-3 times per month based on customer production.   Responsibilities and Job Duties:  * Separate line side recyclables per standards set by the Lead Resource Manager. * Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transports to disposal container or storage room. * Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment. * Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to recycling centers and any other disposal site. * Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in plant’s recycling and waste containers. * Maintain necessary documentation of waste/recycling inventories, inspections and other activities as required. * Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks, etc. * Follow all plant-related safety guidelines. * Responsible for additional duties assigned.  Requirements and Qualifications: * High School Diploma and one year experience in waste management. * Previous experience handling/disposing of plastic and recycling. * Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. * Qualifications include the ability to read and understand basic equipment operating instructions, safe work protocols and adhere to the personal protection requirements of the assigned job. * Must have a valid driver's license.  Preferred Qualifications: * Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will be provided upon hire. * Current 40-hour HAZWOPER will be provided upon hire. * Current Fork Truck Operator Training (desired); will be provided upon hire.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Technician is responsible for collecting, segregating, and processing various waste streams including hazardous materials and recyclables within the plant. They must also maintain accurate inventory documentation and operate fork trucks to facilitate the shipment of waste materials.
