Description
MPS Group, Inc., is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team at the Stellantis Assembly Plant located in Sterling Heights, MI. This individual will be responsible for handling solid and hazardous waste at the plant.   Shift Details: Shift: 1st Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.   Responsibilities and Job Duties: * Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements. * Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfill, recycling center, and any other disposal site. * Perform and document daily equipment inspection prior to use. * Clean/maintain organization and compliance of 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, labeling drums. * Assist Supervisor with response to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping, or vacuuming solids and containerizing cleaned up materials for proper disposal. * Assist Supervisor with daily supply delivery, waste pick up and waste organization. * Perform weekly inspections of waste storage areas, spill response kits, and storm drain pathways taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during the inspection. * Perform daily walk-throughs and waste response actions of designated production and non-production areas including collection. points of all waste streams the plant generates. * Document and inform Supervisor of any contamination in plant’s garbage, recycling and various other waste containers. * Maintain/complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections and other activities as required. * Operate forklift to move waste and to load/unload trucks. * Follow all plant- related safety guidelines. * Other tasks assigned by manager. Requirements and Qualifications: * Minimum of one year industry related experience.  * High School Diploma or GED. * Ability to work 40 hours a week. * Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours a day. * Capacity to repetitively lift and move at least 50 pounds of weight during short bursts of activity. * Training will be mixed structured and on-site job training for the tasks at hand. * Extensive, in-house Health and Safety training. * Must be able to pass a background check. * Must be able to pass a drug test. Preferred Qualifications: * 40-hour HAZWOPER. * RCRA/DOT training. * Hilo truck experience. * Experience working in an automotive assembly environment and/or manufacturing.
